AVG Anti-Virus is one of the truly free anti-virus programs out there. It provides free virus definition updates, and has a relatively small memory footprint, unlike some of the more popular anti-virus programs of today that have about 5 running memory processes. AVG anti-virus has one process that runs under the user account and another process that runs under the system account as a service. AVG anti-virus free edition does have a few restrictions which you can expect with free software. It has only a basic user interface, disabled advanced scheduling of scans, disabled creating of your own scans, and NO TECHNICAL SUPPORT. Dispite these disabled features it is a very good product, and well worth the effort to install and use.
